Steve Reyes Site
Post is late as I did not have access to posting on blog until today. Site chosen for its high foot traffic and possibility for audience interaction.

Really nice to see what you are all thinking about.
In related to your posts I want to remind you that your object should have a performative aspect- meaning that it needs to interact with/ respond to/ change the site in some way ( open your mind and be ambitious)
Also, and I know it's difficult, try to observe your site deeply before you reach any conclusion of what your work is going to be about.
I hope it helps,
Rotem
Jen Herrera - Site - Head Spring at Ichetucknee
I chose the head spring at Ichetucknee State Park for my site. It's a little far away, but the spring itself is beautiful and a vital part of the ecosystem. This spring is where the water comes up from the earth and feeds the river. Springs and aquifers are essential to our lives in Florida as a main source of our fresh water. I took some time to photograph it, write a little about it, and did a quick watercolor study.
I also took some video for the sounds of the spring:
Location
I'm thinking the top of the parking garage by SW rec. It's got no cars parked here besides the workers. Very quiet and open. Ironic comparison to the interior which is very closed and loud.

I was thinking of doing a nature park because it's a false sense of nature. humans are the ones that choose what to do with the land. I wanted to show the clash between the urban world and the natural world. the park feels like you are in a forest because you hear the birds and you are surrounded by untouched trees, but at times you can hear roadway noises and can even see some cars/buildings. you can clearly see the path where you're supposed to walk on. I was thinking of making a structure with branches and other natural materials from the park but also adding man-made materials like the reflector seen on the tree in the 3rd picture.

A site I'm thinking of doing is a laundromat. It was interesting seeing people come and go and how they interacted with the machines. Laundry can be an intimate act yet a laundromat gives no privacy.
